How to Whiten Your Teeth.
The good news is that having that pearly white smile is no longer limited to the rich and famous. Neither is the cost of it out of the reach of the average person any more. In fact there is a method of how to whiten your teeth for everyone and to suit every pocket now available. There is now a wide array of tooth whitening products ranging from chewing gum and toothpaste right up to professional tooth whitening kits for use at home. As well as these, there is also a wide range of tooth whitening procedures that you can get from your dentist.
Given the wide range available, how do you know which tooth whitening product is the right one for you. If you really want that dazzling white smile but are concerned about the possibility that the product you choose may not be right for you, then your first point of consultation should be your local dentist.
Your dentist will offer you several methods of whitening your teeth from just polishing them with a light abrasive polish, or giving you a treatment of whitening strips to the complete laser whitening treatment.
In truth any method, apart from laser treatment, that is carried out by the dentist can normally be carried out in the comfort of your own home, and for a fraction of the cost.
Lets look at the different home methods of whitening your teeth.
Firstly there are the whitening toothpastes available now on the market. These generally have to be used for a prolonged period before any noticeable results occur. However, once you have whitened your teeth by whatever method, these are great for retaining that sparkling whiteness.
Then there is brushing your teeth with salt. This can work if your teeth are not too badly stained since the salt acts as a mild abrasive. However, this is not recommended since if you do this too many times, it can remove the enamel from your teeth and you will end up with the opposite effect and have permanent yellow teeth.
People have also been known to use caustic soda. This can be a good method providing your teeth are not too discoloured to remove light stains. The major down side to this method though is that caustic soda is highly poisonous and you run the risk of accidentally swallowing it when cleaning your teeth.
One of the cosmetic products I previously used was a gel that was basically placed into moulds that I made to fit my teeth and then left for an hour before removing and rinsing. This was a rather effective but initially time consuming and rather messy method. In order to shape the moulds, I first had to place the shaped plastic gum shields in boiling water and then place them over my teeth and bite into them until the moulds had hardened themselves into the shape of my teeth. Once this was done, the moulds were good for the complete treatment. One of the downsides to this was I often got the top and bottom moulds mixed up. Also, keeping the moulds in my mouth for a length of time resulted in me dribbling like an idiot all down my chin for the duration of the treatment since the moulds were quite large for my small mouth.
By far the best method that I have found is to use Teeth Whiten Tips. This is a fantastic system that not only is fast, it is almost effortless to use. The system works by using swabs filled with a unique solution that you use with a whitening powder and then rub on your teeth. The complete treatment takes only 6 days to give you that perfect smile. This was fast, efficient and a pleasure to use especially when the results were seen 6 days later. After all, when you look good, you feel good and that means that you become more confident in the world around you.
